It was difficult, which makes some sense as the while point of avant garde is to break conventions of the genres. Main decision point were in some cases the label of the musicians. Point being, there is likely something bordering classical that is close to your tastes, similarly probably a lot of rock that appeals to those who like that very niche of classical music.
