Abstract. Tongue biting (TB) may occur both in seizures and in psychogenic non-epileptic events (PNEEs). We undertook a systematic review to determine sensitivity, specificity, and likelihood ratios (LR) of TB. Five studies (222 epilepsy patients and 181 subjects with PNEEs) were included.

14 de feb. de 2019 · Risk of tongue biting was evaluated at 5.6% per EMU admission, or 8.3% for those admissions with a final diagnosis of epilepsy. On average, patients who sustained oral injuries sustained 1.7 such injury per admission.
During my last seizure I bite my tongue. It has been hurting now for a couple days now. Does anyone know a good treatment for a bitten tongue?

5 de feb. de 2013 · Tongue biting was identified in 14/157 (8.9%) patients with epilepsy during at least one epileptic seizure episode. The site of TB was: bilateral ( n = 3); unilateral right or left ( n = 4), right unilateral ( n = 5); left unilateral ( n = 2).
