Het tweede soloalbum van Wright kwam in 1996 uit onder de titel Broken China. Hij liet zich bijstaan door Sinéad O'Connor (zang), Pino Palladino , Manu Katché , Dominic Miller en Tim Renwick op gitaren. Tijdens het Live 8-concert van Pink Floyd op 2 juli 2005 stond Richard Wright voor het eerst sinds 1981 weer met Waters op het podium.

Broken China è il terzo ed ultimo album solista del tastierista dei Pink Floyd Richard Wright.. Uscito con la firma di “Rick Wright” il 26 novembre 1996 in Gran Bretagna, fu realizzato con la partecipazione di alcuni nomi noti del panorama rock: Pino Palladino al basso, Tim Renwick (già in tour con i Pink Floyd) e Dominic Miller alle chitarre, Sinead O'Connor voce, Manu Katche alla batteria.
22 de oct. de 2014 · On Wright’s solo compositions (1978’s Wet Dream and 1996’s Broken China) there was a remarkably similar sound to Pink Floyd. This, however, shows exactly what Wright brought to Pink Floyd’s table: a sense of melody and mood are showcased, showing just how integral he was to the overall sound of his legendary band.
