To visit Scotland’s Whaligoe Steps from here, simply return the way you came, but, instead of returning to your car, continue along the minor road back down to the crossroads with the A99. Cross over, past the BT telephone box and onwards to Whaligoe Haven.

The best known is the Castle of Mey - “The Queen Mother’s Home in Scotland” - so called because in 1952 it was purchased by the mother of Queen Elizabeth II, our reigning monarch. The castle was in a bit of a sorry state by the 1950’s and badly in need of repair.
