  6. Chief Opechancanough (1554–1646) was a tribal chief within the Powhatan Confederacy of Virginia and its paramount chief from sometime after 1618 until 1646. His name means "He whose Soul is White" in the Algonquian Powhatan language. He was the younger brother of Chief Wahunsunacawh (aka Chief Powhatan), and the uncle of Pocahontas.
