History of Christ Church The college is generally said to have been founded by King Henry VIII in 1546, but the original plans for it were drawn up by Thomas Wolsey in 1525, whilst at the zenith of his career.

Accommodation and meals Accommodation. Christ Church offers a variety of graduate accommodation. St Aldate’s Quad, just across the road from the main college site, and the Liddell Building on Iffley Road, a ten-minute walk from the college, located near the university and college sports facilities, both offer students private study bedrooms with shared bathrooms.
Christ Church offers fantastic welfare support for students, with trained student Peer Supporters and a College Counsellor. As well as the Junior Common Room (JCR), we have a TV room and college bar (the Undercroft or ‘Undie’), and for those missing their pets we have two college kittens, Alice and Meadow.
