Christine de Pizan nació en 1365 en Venecia. Su padre, Tommaso di Benvenuto da Pizzano (llamado Thomas de Pizan), fue médico, astrólogo y consejero en el gobierno de la República de Venecia. Después del nacimiento de Christine, Thomas aceptó el puesto de astrólogo, médico y alquimista de la corte de Carlos V de Francia.
