For 50 years we have seen exceptional female students and Fellows join our community, and benefit from everything Clare has to offer. By Clare College. As part of the 50th anniversary celebrations, we have collated stories from 50 alumnae – one alumna for each year since 1972. Here are just a few.
Clare students, Fellows, and alumni have many notable, prestigious, and worthwhile achievements to their names. Our Fellows cover a range of fields, from medieval literature to cutting edge cancer treatments, and our alumni include Sir David Attenborough and Sir Henry 'Skip' Gates.
Clare Boat Club is the rowing club for current members of Clare College. There is a separate club, De Burgh Boat Club, for alumni. In 2012, Clare Boat Club had the highest membership relative to the size of its student body of any college-affiliated boat club in Cambridge, fielding six men's VIIIs in the May Bumps competition. As a medical student, I’m one of the frequent library dwellers, and Clare’s Forbes Mellon Library is such a lovely and warm environment to work in, conveniently placed in the middle of Memorial Court!
