The SA80 (Small Arms for the 1980s) is a British family of 5.56×45mm NATO service weapons used by the British Army. The L85 Rifle variant has been the standard issue service rifle of the British Armed Forces since 1987, replacing the L1A1 Self-Loading Rifle.

Baker rifle. The Baker rifle was a muzzle-loading flintlock weapon used by the British Army in the Napoleonic Wars, notably by the 95th Rifles and the 5th Battalion, 60th Regiment of Foot. This rifle was an accurate weapon for its day, with reported kills being made at 100 to 300 yards (90 to 270 m) away.

25 de abr. de 2018 · The weapon was the intended replacement for the SA80A2, the standard issue service rifle for the British Armed Forces. Now, the MoD has announced the British Army has officially begun fielding the SA80A3. Enhancements. In a press release, the MoD said the SA80A3 is being upgraded from the SA80A2 as part of its Mid Life improvement (MLI) project.

The British Army is beginning to ‘ramp down’ production of its existing assault rifle, the SA80, designated L85A3, ahead of the induction of its replacement system under Project Grayburn.
7 de ago. de 2021 · The L85A3 is a bullpup design assault rifle chambered in 5.56 x 45 mm NATO caliber. New features of the L85A3 include a modified upper receiver with Picatinny rail and a full-length rail system for optional add-ons such as a vertical foregrip, laser pointer and torch.
