Filed Under. The Donald Gray Gardens were situated on 3.5 acres of lakefront just to the north of Cleveland Municipal Stadium. The gardens and the Horticulture Building (1000 feet to the west of the gardens) were built in 1936 as part of the Great Lakes Exposition.

The exposition was dismantled quickly, taken down right after closing day on September 26, 1937. Only the Donald Gray Gardens were left standing behind Cleveland Stadium until 1997 when construction started on Cleveland Browns Stadium on the same site.

In 2022, the vast area of what was the Exposition was home to the GREAT LAKES SCIENCE CENTER , First Energy Stadium, and the ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME .
