In his last ever Western, Burt Kennedy’s Welcome to Hard Times in 1967, he pretty well stole the show in a tiny cameo as a clerk sent out from the territorial capital to register Hard Times as an official town. William Edgar Buchanan died after a stroke in 1979. He has been sorely missed.
