Sleeping Beauty (French: La Belle au bois dormant ), or Little Briar Rose (German: Dornröschen ), also titled in English as The Sleeping Beauty in the Woods, is a classic fairy tale about a princess who is cursed to sleep for a hundred years by an evil fairy, where she would be awakened by a handsome prince.
This edition of Sleeping Beauty and Other Fairy Tales further contains a set of dazzling coloured illustrations by a true master of the ‘Golden Age’; Edmund Dulac (1882 – 1953). A French artist himself, Dulac had a particular affinity with these Old French tales as well as a rigorously painterly background.
