Elsa Mäkiniemi – Elissa Aalto, fue una arquitecta filandesa que desde 1949 trabajó junto a su esposo Alvar Aalto. Después del fallecimiento de Alvar, ella dirigió el estudio Alvar Aalto & Co. hasta su muerte en 1994.

Starting in the 1950s, Alvar Aalto ’s colleague and second wife played a major role in several of Aalto’s architect’s office’s building projects.
Elissa was a driving force in preserving the Aalto legacy, arranging the transfer of the office archive to the Alvar Aalto Foundation. In addition to her architectural work, Elissa designed textiles for Artek, the furnishing and textiles company founded in 1935 by Alvar and his first wife, Aino.
