From then on, things started moving forward for Joplin. When he published his first rag, ‘Original Rags’, he was made to share credit with another arranger.

This combination created a lively and energetic sound. African-American composer and pianist Scott Joplin is known as the "King of Ragtime." He wrote many famous ragtime pieces, notably "Maple Leaf Rag" (1899).
