Map References. Map references identify a specific location and are often included in unit war diaries. Gallipoli map references are taken from either the 1:40,000 or 1:20,000 scale maps and are unique to the map scale. For example the map reference for Fisherman’s Hut is 237.Q.4 on the 1:40,000 map sheet and 80.H.5 on the 1:20,000 map sheet.
