George V (Georg Friedrich Alexander Karl Ernst August; 27 May 1819 – 12 June 1878) was the last king of Hanover, reigning from 18 November 1851 to 20 September 1866. The only child of King Ernest Augustus and Queen Frederica, he succeeded his father in 1851. George's reign was ended by the Austro-Prussian War, after which Prussia annexed Hanover.

König Georg V. von Hannover war der erste Schützenkönig im Tostedter Schützenverein von 1854 e. V. Heinrich Narten gab für den erblindeten König den Königsschuss ab. Die Tostedter Schützen führen enge Bezüge zum Königreich Hannover und tragen heute noch die Uniform der Hannoverschen Jäger, wonach auch das Mitteilungsblatt des Schützenvereins benannt wurde.

George, Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg (17 February 1582, in Celle – 12 April 1641, in Hildesheim ), ruled as Prince of Calenberg from 1635. George was the sixth son of William, Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg (1535–1592) and Dorothea of Denmark (1546–1617). His mother was daughter to King Christian III of Denmark and Dorothea of Saxe-Lauenburg.
