24 de abr. de 2024 · George III was the son of Frederick Louis, prince of Wales, and Princess Augusta of Saxe-Gotha. From his parents and their entourage, the young George imbibed an unreasonable dislike of his grandfather, King George II, and of all his policies. George was a child of strong feelings but of slow mental development.

2 de may. de 2024 · Charlotte was the queen consort of George III of England. In 1761 she was selected unseen after the British king asked for a review of all eligible German Protestant princesses. The marriage was a success, and the couple had 15 children, including George IV.

1 de may. de 2024 · Something that did differ in real history is that, despite living with their parents into their 30s, Queen Charlotte’s own daughters really did want to marry. The fact they didn’t was partly due to circumstance – they were reaching marrying age just as George hit his worst bout of mental health issues and war was kicking off.
23 de abr. de 2024 · On the death in 1817 of Princess Charlotte, daughter of the prince regent (later George IV), there was no surviving legitimate offspring of George III’s 15 children. In 1818, therefore, three of his sons, the dukes of Clarence, Kent, and Cambridge , married to provide for the succession.
Hace 5 días · George III was still king at this time, but he had made the Prince of Wales–his oldest son George–a regent in 1811. George III died on Jan. 29, 1820. He had reigned 60 years, the third-longest reign in British/English history. His regent son became King George IV.
