  1. George IV, orig. George Augustus Frederick, (born Aug. 12, 1762, London, Eng.—died June 26, 1830, Windsor, Berkshire), King of the United Kingdom (1820–30) and king of Hanover (1820–30). The son of George III , he earned his father’s ill will by his extravagances and dissolute habits, contracting a secret marriage that was annulled by his father.
