The rebel, reckless and spoiled teenager Rachel Wilcox travels from San Francisco to the conservative Mormon Hull, Idaho, with her alcoholic mother Lily to spend the summer with her grandmother Georgia. Rachel and Lily have a troubled relationship and Georgia follows severe rules at her home.
Georgia, the family matriarch, lives by a strict code and expects all under her roof to do the same. Given structure and purpose, Rachel's anger at the world begins to subside.
