30 de abr. de 2021 · The castle is steeped in history, with a number of fascinating stories, myths, and legends surrounding it. It is said that Glamis provided inspiration for the setting in Shakespeare ’s Macbeth, and it is believed that Scottish King Malcolm II did indeed die here in 1034.

About Glamis Castle. Glamis has been the ancestral seat to the Earls of Strathmore and Kinghorne since King Robert II granted the Thanage of Glamis to Sir John Lyon in 1372. Once host to Mary, Queen of Scots, Glamis is said to have inspired one of Shakespeare’s most famous plays, Macbeth.
