Charlotte Buff. Charlotte Sophie Henriette Buff (Wetzlar, 11 de enero de 1753; Hanóver, 16 de enero de 1828) fue la mujer en el que se basó Johann Wolfgang von Goethe para el personaje de Lotte en Las penas del joven Werther.

The unhappy love for Lotte, who was engaged to someone else, found its way into the epistolary novel The Sorrow of Young Werther, published in 1774.
Charlotte Buff (11 January 1753, Wetzlar – 16 January 1828, Hanover) was a youthful acquaintance of the poet Goethe, who fell in love with her. She rejected him and instead married Johann Christian Kestner, vice-archivist and privy councillor to the Hanoverian court.
