Born in 1862 in Vienna, Klimt was a prominent member of the Vienna Secession movement, which aimed to break away from the traditional academic art and embrace more modern and progressive styles.
Hace 5 días · A painting by the Austrian artist Gustav Klimt that was considered lost for 100 years has sold for €30m (£26m) at an auction in Vienna. Entitled Portrait of Fräulein Lieser, the unfinished picture was painted in the spring of 1917, when Klimt was one of the most celebrated portraitists in Europe , and a year before his death.

Hace 4 días · The Austrian painter Gustav Klimt (1862 – 1918) was a great collector of Japanese prints, ceramics and face masks. At the sixth exhibition of the Vienna Secession, Klimt unveiled his Japanese influenced work, in particular his painting/collage Portrait of Adele Bloch Bauer (1903).
