His parents were Jesse Clark Hoover (1846-1880) and Hulda Randall Minthorn (1848-1884). He married Lou Henry on 10 Feb 1899 in Monterey, California. Herbert died in New York on 20 Oct 1964. The descendants of Andrew Hoover, born Andreas Huber, who came to the United States from the Palatinate in 1783 and established this Hoover line in America.
