Arthur Heygate Mackmurdo. Arthur Heygate Mackmurdo ( Londra, 12 dicembre 1851 – Wickham Bishops, 15 marzo 1942) è stato un architetto e designer inglese, precursore del Movimento Moderno e importante per il primo Art Nouveau inglese [1] [2] .
Arthur Heygate Mackmurdo [also known as A.H. Mackmurdo] was born in Edmonton, Middlesex, England on 12 December 1851 and was articled to the architect Thomas Chatfield Clarke (1829-1895) in London. In 1873 he moved to the London office of James Brooks (1825-1901), a Gothic Revival architect, to whom Mackmurdo later acknowledged his debt "as an exemplar of methodical thoroughness".
Arthur Heygate Mackmurdo (1851-1942), a highly important oak chair, with an Art Nouveau floral back. Mackmurdo's influence in Europe is recognized as having produced the earliest examples of Art Nouveau, particularly in the styling of a chair-back designed in 1882 and the title page for Wren's City Churches a year later.
