Doc Hudson, also known as the Fabulous Hudson Hornet, was a Piston Cup racer from 1951 to 1954. From late 2005 to 2009, Doc was the crew chief of 7-time Piston Cup champion Lightning McQueen. Doc was and still is a great inspiration to many racers including The King, Dale Earnhardt Sr, Lightning McQueen, and many others.
Racing Days (1951-1954)
Doc made his debut in the Piston Cup in 1951 at the age of 20. Doc took the Piston Cup by storm winning 13 races and the championship in his rookie year! 1952 would be his best year as he won 27 races which still stands as most wins in an entire season and won another championship, Doc also did a famous flip over Leroy Heming at the 1952 Thomasville 400 Doc did great in 1953, winning 22 races and won his third Piston Cup. He was bound to win his 4th Piston Cup in 1954 since he won 16 races that year, but however, he suffered a bad crash at the Fireball Beach race and because of this, Leroy Heming won the Piston Cup.
Moving on from racing (1955-1969)
―Doc Hudson explaining the end of his career to Lightning McQueen When Doc was fully repaired, he came back excepting a big welcome, but his team had replaced him, his team told him that he was history, sadden by these words, Doc decided to leave his racing days behind him, through out these years, Doc tried to blend into other cities, but people kept recognizing him, Doc was getting tired of being reminded of his racing days, so he decided to head out west on Route 66 where he wouldn't be as recognized.
Hiding in Radiator Springs (1970-2004)
One day on Route 66, Doc discovered a broken red car by the name of Phillip, Doc knew how to repair his engine so he did and Phillip lead him to a town called Radiator Springs, upon his arrival, Doc became the Doctor and the Judge and gained the respect of the Radiator Springs townies, when Interstate 40 was built, despite the rest of the townfolks being sad, Doc was a little happy since he would have more quiet. Doc lived a peaceful quiet life in Radiator Springs for a very long time, none of the Radiator Springs townsfolks knew he was famous, They all thought he was just a normal Hudson Hornet.
