James Hugh Calum Laurie CBE (/ ˈ l ɒr i /; born 11 June 1959) is an English actor, comedian, writer, and musician. He first gained recognition for his work as one half of the comedy double act Fry and Laurie with Stephen Fry.

He portrayed Dr. Gregory House in the television series House MD and Frederick Little in Stuart Little and its sequel Stuart Little 2. He is also famous in Britain for his work with Stephen Fry and for the BBC series Blackadder.
