8 de may. de 2024 · In 1262, Berke began a war with the Il-Khan Hulagu Khan. This led to several battles on the west side of the Caspian which the Horde usually lost. The interruption of trade and conflict with Persia led the Horde to build trading towns along the northern route. They also allied with the Mamluks of Egypt who were the Il-Khan's enemies.

23 de abr. de 2024 · 1262 Jan 1. Berke defeats Hulagu Khan on the Terek River. Terek River. Berke sought a joint attack with Baybars and forged an alliance with the Mamluks against Hulagu. The Golden Horde dispatched the young prince Nogai to invade the Ilkhanate but Hulagu forced him back in 1262.
23 de abr. de 2024 · Hulagu Khan, Genghis' grandson, was responsible for further westward expansion of Mongol power. By his time, however, the Mongol Empire had fragmented into different factions. Hulagu established the Ilkhanate in Iran, a breakaway state of the Mongol Empire, which ruled for eighty years and became increasingly Persianized.
