Ian Robins Dury (12 May 1942 – 27 March 2000) was an English singer, songwriter and actor who rose to fame in the late 1970s, during the punk and new wave era of rock music. He was the lead singer and lyricist of Ian Dury and the Blockheads and previously Kilburn and the High Roads.
Biography. Ian Dury was a rock and roll vagabond with the wit, humour and intelligence of Noël Coward and Oscar Wilde. His verbal dexterity as an entertainer and a lyric writer gave the world some of its most famous phrases – “sex and drugs and rock and roll” and “reasons to be cheerful.”
The Blockheads are an English rock band formed in London in 1977. Originally fronted by lead singer Ian Dury as Ian Dury and the Blockheads or Ian and the Blockheads, the band has continued to perform since Dury's death in 2000. Biografía. En el conocido sello Stiff Records, Ian Dury y los Blockheads grabaron una serie de discos muy aprovechables dentro de la escena new wave de los años 70 y 80. El inglés Dury nació el 12 de mayo del año 1942 en la localidad de Upminster, Essex. En su niñez sufrió la polio, hecho que condicionó su físico.
