Interlochen Arts Academy is a pre-professional arts boarding high school, founded in 1962 by Joseph E. Maddy. The school offers seven arts majors in creative writing, dance, film and new media, interdisciplinary arts, music, theater, and visual arts.

Interlochen offers rigorous college-preparatory academics, with plenty of options for students who are looking to earn college credit while still in high school. Through a partnership with Indiana University, students can take college classes on Interlochen’s campus.

At our boarding arts high school, Interlochen Arts Academy, you'll develop your creativity and prepare for your future as an artist. What You'll Learn. As a Visual Arts major, you'll take courses on skill-building, techniques, and art history. You'll receive regular individual and group critiques.
