Biography. Jackson Pollock: January 28, 1912 – August 11, 1956. Jackson Pollock was the first American abstract painter to be taken seriously in Europe. He was one of the most influential and controversial painters of the twentieth century. He was an alcoholic with a quick temper and quick fists.

Jackson Pollock, né le à Cody dans le Wyoming et mort le à Springs dans l' État de New York, est un peintre américain de l' expressionnisme abstrait, mondialement connu de son vivant. Jackson Pollock a réalisé plus de 700 œuvres, peintures achevées, essais peints ou sculptés et dessins ainsi que quelques gravures.
Jackson Pollock falleció en Springs, Nueva York, el 11 de agosto de 1956 al sufrir un grave accidente de automóvil cuando conducía su Oldsmobile convertible bajo la influencia del alcohol. Uno de los pasajeros, Edith Metzger, también murió en el accidente, que se produjo menos de una milla de la casa de Pollock.
