Jardim do Mar ( Portuguese for garden of the sea) is a civil parish in the western part of the municipality of Calheta in the Portuguese island of Madeira. The population in 2011 was 204, [1] in an area of 0.74 km 2. [2] It is approximately 3 kilometres (1.86 mi) northwest of Calheta.

Surrounded by the sea and cloaked by the mountains, this parish preserves the tranquillity of the old days, of which the old narrow streets and low-level houses with different shapes of chimneys still bear witness. Jardim do Mar became the island’s meeting point for the international surfing community.

Besides taking a stroll along the seafront there isn’t that much to do in this small village itself, but it’s located close to several other villages and attractions. It’s only a 10-minute drive to Calheta Beach, one of the rare few sandy beaches on the island.
Jardim do Mar se ha convertido en el punto de encuentro para la comunidad internacional de surfistas. Gracias a su situación geográfica, el Archipiélago de Madeira es un lugar privilegiado que recibe las mareas del Atlántico Norte y posee todo tipo de olas, desde point breaks a reef breaks.
