The MCU has introduced filmgoers to many fan-favorite villains, like Loki, Killmonger and Thanos.

"What does it smell like?"
The Grandmaster cheerily poses this question to Topaz when he melts Carlo and Thor yells in horror, "Oh, the smell!" Topaz answers with, "Burnt toast," earning a snicker from the Grandmaster. This weird inquiry sparks a comical reaction of wonder in the audience about why he is immune to the smell of his melted cousin. It also does a great job characterizing the Grandmaster's indifferent brutality in one of his introductory scenes, which is a big part of why Thor: Ragnarok is the MCU's funnie...
"Hey, let's have a big round of applause for all of today's contenders who have died so gruesomely! Good sports!"
The Grandmaster makes this heartfelt announcement about the deceased fighters to the crowd before the main event of the Contest of Champions. As it so often is, the Grandmaster's affinity for the macabre is put on humorous display, making him a contender for the best character in Taika Waititi's movies. The comment earns a guffaw from viewers, who also gain a sense of just how brutal the Contest of Champions is before Thor steps into the arena.
"Why are you handing me the melt stick? He was interrupting. That's not a capital violation."
Genuinely puzzled, the Grandmaster says this to Topaz when she tries to hand him the melt stick to use on Loki for interrupting him mid-sentence. The Grandmaster has a point with this one. Melting Loki for interrupting him might be overkill. However, given the Grandmaster's past, it is not something that viewers would put past the leader, so the quote is also a good example of how the fresh villain keeps people guessing.
"I didn't hear any thunder, but out of your fingers-- was that sparkles?"
This is the Grandmaster's response to Thor yelling, "I am the God of Thunder!" only to fail to bust out of the chair that he is strapped into as little bolts of lightning spark at his fingertips. It is pretty funny to see the Grandmaster unimpressed with the god that the audience knows as an iconic hero. Plus, reducing the lightning running through Thor's veins to "sparkles" is a hilariously patronizing blow that shows the Grandmaster's stony humor and how little he knows about Thor.
"Take to the streets! Celebrate my champion! It seems that that criminally seductive Lord of Thunder has stolen him away."
Thor and Bruce hear the Grandmaster broadcast this call to action to the people of Sakaar moments after Bruce turns back from being the Hulk for two years. Related: 10 Quotes That Prove Thor Is The Best Avenger In The MCU Hearing the Grandmaster refer to Thor as criminally seductive after patronizing and entrapping him for all this time is an amusing development. Thor's immediate correction of "seductive GOD of Thunder" makes the line even better.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, I give to you... Lord of Thunder! Watch out for his fingers. They sparkle."
From his giant, holographic form at the center of the arena, this is how the Grandmaster announces Thor before he fights his champion. This is quite the way to introduce one of the universe's strongest heroes to a crowd. It calls back to his earlier comment about Thor's lightning resembling sparkles, and it's just as boldly patronizing this time. To add insult to injury, in the same sentence he continues to butcher Thor's title by using "Lord."
"I woke up this morning thinking about a public execution. But for now, I'll settle for this sweet little, 'who's gonna get him first?'"
The Grandmaster says this to Loki and Valkyrie when his beloved champion, the Hulk, turns up missing at the hands of the God of Thunder. Related: Thor Ragnarok - Every Major Cast Member's Best Movie According To IMDb Goldblum's waggish delivery of this line is golden, but the quote itself speaks levels to his character. There is only one thing that sounds more appealing to him than an execution, and it is a competition. This makes perfect sense for the host of the Contest of Champions.
"I just gotta say, I'm proud of you all. This revolution has been a huge success. Yay us!"
"... Can't have a revolution without somebody to overthrow!" This quote comes from the post-credits scene where the Grandmaster finds himself face to face with the scavengers on Sakaar. The narcissistic self-insertion as a hero in the revolution against him is a fitting final shot for the Grandmaster in this film. It is also the much-needed comic relief that comes after the heavy mid-credit scene of Thanos' ship looming over the people of Asgard.
"You're officially pardoned... from life!"
The Grandmaster says this to his cousin Carlo, right after telling him that he has been pardoned for his crimes, and right before executing him with his melt stick. This quote is a cruel joke that really captures two major aspects of the Grandmaster's personality: Deadpanned quips and shamelessly gruesome displays of death. It establishes exactly the kind of ruthless leader that he is very early on, making him one of the most powerful characters in Thor: Ragnarok.
"Time works real different around these parts. On any other world I would be millions of years old but here on Sakaar..."
The Grandmaster offers up this explanation after inserting himself into Thor and Loki's conversation about why their times of arrival do not match up. His sentence trails off into a suspicious leer at Loki. This quote pinpoints the Grandmaster's inexplicable energy while clearly unnerving Loki, and hilariously so for the audience. It also creates an element of mystery surrounding the character that makes him such an enjoyable villain, possibly explaining why Ragnarok is one of the most succes...
