Jesse Owens, son of a sharecropper and grandson of a slave, achieved what no Olympian before him had accomplished. Jesse Owens won no less than four gold medals at the 1936 Olympic games in Berlin. In the process, he became one of the most important and memorable Olympic athletes of all time.
