  2. Children of Louisa Catherine Johnson Adams. CHARLES ADAMS was born on 29 May 1770, the second son of John and Abigail Smith Adams. At the age of nine he traveled with his father and older brother, John Quincy, to Europe during his father’s second trip to France and studied briefly in Passy, Amsterdam, and Leyden.

  3. Charles Adams (1770 – 1800) – At the age of nine, Charles traveled with his father and older brother John Quincy to Europe. He briefly studied in Passy (an area of Paris, France), Amsterdam, and Leiden University in South Holland, where he graduated on January 29, 1781. He returned home alone from Europe in December.
