The marriage was arranged as part of Northumberland’s ambitious plans to consolidate power and secure the Protestant succession.
3 de may. de 2024 · Robert Dudley was the fifth son of John Dudley, 1st Duke of Northumberland, and his wife Jane, daughter of Sir Edward Guildford. His paternal grandfather, Edmund Dudley, had been an adviser to King Henry VII and was executed for treason in 1510 by King Henry VIII.
