John is not Judy's biological father, but was the only father she has ever known in person until she met Grant Kelly in Season 3 . The character of John Robinson first appeared in the original Lost in Space, then in the 1998 film, as well as the failed pilot The Robinsons: Lost in Space .
Professor John Robinson is the husband of Maureen Robinson, and the father of Judy, Penny, and Will Robinson. In the original series, he is considered the leader of the Jupiter 2 mission.
