Johnny Weissmuller. Peter Johann Weissmüller ( Freidorf ( Roemenië ), 2 juni 1904 – Acapulco ( Mexico ), 20 januari 1984) was een zwemkampioen in de jaren 20 van de twintigste eeuw en als filmster de vertolker van Tarzan tussen 1932 en 1948. Johnny Weissmuller (syntyjään saksalaisittain Johann, unkarilaisittain János, 2. kesäkuuta 1904 Freidorf, Itävalta-Unkari (nyk. Romania ) – 20. tammikuuta 1984 Acapulco , Meksiko ) oli yhdysvaltalainen uimari ja viisinkertainen olympiavoittaja vuosien 1924 ja 1928 olympialaisissa sekä Tarzan -elokuvien pääosanäyttelijä vuosina 1932–1948.
He was the son of Johnny Weissmuller Sr. and Beryl Scott, the third of Weissmuller’s five wives (1939-1948). The Weissmullers lived in San Francisco while he appeared in Billy Rose’s Aquacade, but soon moved back to Hollywood; they separated in 1943, and Weissmuller Jr. was raised by his mother in Santa Monica during the tumultuous years of his parents’ separation and divorce.
Dalla terza moglie ha tre figli, Johnny Scott Weissmuller (anche lui attore con il nome di Johnny Weissmuller Jr.), Wendy Anne Weissmuller e Heidi Elizabeth Weissmuller.
