London remained close with ex-husband Jack Webb, and in 1972, he cast her and Troup in his television series Emergency!, of which he was executive producer. London played Dixie McCall, and Troup was cast as emergency-room physician Dr. Joe Early.

Emergency! was a third-generation spin-off, having been spawned from Jack Webb's Adam-12, which itself was spun off from Jack Webb's Dragnet. All three series take place in the same universe and depict different aspects of the public safety infrastructure of Los Angeles, California.

Later in the 1971–72 season, Webb and Cinader launched Emergency!, which focused on the fictional Station 51 Rescue Squad of the L.A. County Fire Department, and its work in coordination with the emergency department staff of the fictional Rampart General Hospital.

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Julie London, the smoky-voiced ``Cry Me A River'' nightclub singer who played TV nurse Dixie McCall on the old ``Emergency!'' series, died Wednesday. She was 74. London had been in poor health since suffering a stroke five years ago.
This show was truly a family affair because Julie London was at the time married to Bobby Troup and had been hired by her previous husband Jack Webb, who was the series' creator and producer.
