Caroline of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel (Caroline Amelia Elizabeth; 17 May 1768 – 7 August 1821) was Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland and Queen of Hanover from 29 January 1820 until her death in 1821 as the estranged wife of King George IV. She was Princess of Wales from 1795 to 1820.
5 de feb. de 2024 · Queen Caroline. Caroline was born on 11th March 1683, a daughter of John, Margrave of Brandenberg-Ansbach. She played a large role in affairs of State and the king was distraught when she died after primitive surgery at St James' Palace on 1st December 1737 (New Style dating). She was buried on 17 December.
In January 1820 King George III died and Prinny became King George IV and so Caroline became Queen. The government in England offered Caroline £50,000 if she would stay out of the country, but she refused and came back, where she settled in Hammersmith to the intense embarrassment of all concerned.
The coronation of George II and his wife Caroline as King and Queen of Great Britain and Ireland took place at Westminster Abbey, London, on 11/22 O.S./N.S. October 1727. For the coronation, George Frideric Handel was commissioned to write four new coronation anthems, one of which, Zadok the Priest, has been sung at British coronations ever since.
2 de jun. de 2020 · Before a long-term separation agreement was reached, King George III died on 29 th January 1820. George and Caroline were now King and Queen. George’s efforts to exclude Caroline from the monarchy were undiminished. In February 1820, Caroline was excluded from the liturgy.
Caroline of Brandenburg-Ansbach (Wilhelmina Charlotte Caroline; 1 March 1683 – 20 November 1737) was Queen of Great Britain and Ireland and Electress of Hanover from 11 June 1727 until her death in 1737 as the wife of King George II.
