Welcome to Lahainaluna High School's Academy of Hospitality and Tourism Website! Lahainaluna High School is located on the slopes of the West Maui Mountains on Maui, Hawaii. Founded in 1831, Lahainaluna is the first school west of the Rocky Mountains. Lahainaluna is a public school that accommodates day and boarding students.
02/02/2020 · It is the oldest high school west of the Mississippi River. In September 1836, thirty-two boys between the ages of 10 and 20 were admitted as the first boarding students, from the neighbor islands, as well as from the “other side of the island”; thus, the beginning of the boarding school at Lahainaluna. The boarding program became coed in 1980.
Lahainaluna High School is one of the strongest public high schools in the system. Today, the school has a wide variety of classes and academics. The school has a myriad of Advanced Placement classes, which students can take for college credit. Students are also paired with advisors that help them select classes that align with their future goals.
Lahainaluna High School Foundation Executive Director Jeff Rogers reported that since the $9,000,000 stadium project was completed in 2015, primarily through the generosity of benefac-tor Sue Cooley, the Foundation and Friends of Lahainaluna Football were two organizations that took on the responsibility of upkeep and maintenance there.
