Lahainaluna High School is a public high school with the grades 9-12 located in Lahaina (on the island of Maui). Lahainaluna High School is also a public boarding school. It was founded in 1831 as a Protestant missionary school, originally named Lahainaluna Seminary.

Nestled at the base of Pu'u Pa'upa'u (Hill of Struggle), Lahainaluna Seminary was founded in 1831 by the American missionaries with the intent of creating a high school to educate the greater population.
2 de feb. de 2020 · In September 1836, thirty-two boys between the ages of 10 and 20 were admitted as the first boarding students, from the neighbor islands, as well as from the “other side of the island”; thus, the beginning of the boarding school at Lahainaluna.
Lahainaluna High School (originally Lahainaluna Seminary) was established in 1831 and throughout its nearly 200 year history, it has played a pivotal role in Hawaiian history.
A bit of history when September 5th arrives: On the 5th of September in 1831; 25 scholars (chiefly from Maui & Hawaii) and 1 instructor (Principal Rev Lorrin Andrews of the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions.
Listen to their echo in the valley. *In 1898, Albert Kaleikini, a student at Lahainaluna, went on an excursion to Pu ‘u Pa ‘upa‘u. Beholding the spectacular view, he was moved to write “Lahainaluna”, which became the Alma Mater. -source: Lahainaluna 150th reunion.
The Legends of Lahainaluna Award was created to honor individuals and businesses that have significantly contributed to the success of Lahainaluna High School. In the case of alumni, the award may be given to someone who has contributed significantly to the community in which they now live.
