Bridget Hayward, 21-year-old daughter of the late Margaret Sullavan, the actress, apparently committed suicide by an overdose of sleeping pills, the police said yesterday.
Bridget Hayward was the daughter of actress Margaret Sullavan and theatrical agent Leland Hayward. She was in and out of mental institutions in her teens, and worked at the Williamstown Theatre as an apprentice.
In 1960, depressed by the prognosis of her encroaching deafness, the actress took her own life by consuming an overdose of barbiturates. In 1977, Sullavan's daughter Brooke Hayward published the bestselling Haywire (1977), about herself, her mother, and her father.
Peter Fonda named his daughter in honor of Bridget Hayward, Sullavan's second child, who died by suicide in 1960. He had admitted he was in love with Hayward, but they never had a relationship.

6 de ago. de 2022 · Bridget Hayward was the daughter of actress Margaret Sullavan and theatrical agent Leland Hayward. She died in 1960, the same year that her mother died of an overdose. Bridget also died of an overdose, and was found in her Manhattan apartment in October, 1960.
