Marquess of Anglesey is a title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. It was created in 1815 for Henry Paget, 2nd Earl of Uxbridge, a hero of the Battle of Waterloo, second in command to the Duke of Wellington.

Henry William Paget, 1st Marquess of Anglesey KG, GCB, GCH, PC (17 May 1768 – 29 April 1854), styled Lord Paget between 1784 and 1812 and known as the Earl of Uxbridge between 1812 and 1815, was a British Army officer and politician.

Quick Reference. (1768–1854). Soldier and administrator. In 1794 Anglesey served in Flanders under the duke of York. In 1808 he commanded the cavalry with distinction during the Corunna campaign. At Waterloo he showed undaunted bravery, leading the heavy brigade in the terrible charge which overwhelmed the comte d'Erlon's division.

On the death of the 2nd Earl of Uxbridge in 1769 the Paget barony and estates were inherited by Sir Henry Bayly, 3rd Bt, of Plas Newydd (Anglesey), who was created Earl of Uxbridge in 1784. The 2nd Earl was created Marquess of Anglesey in 1815.
Henry William Paget, first Marquis of Anglesey 1768-1854, was eldest son of Henry Paget, earl of Uxbridge, who died in 1812. His younger brothers were Arthur, Charles, and Edward. Born in London on 17 May 1768, he was educated at Westminster School and at Christ Church, Oxford.
