Mary Astor and later life. Wanting to become an actor, del Campo went to California in 1935, where he soon met Mary Astor. In a ceremony kept secret from the press and his family, del Campo married Astor in 1936, becoming her third husband. Together they had a son, Anthony Paul "Tono" del Campo.
