Mary Moser (Londres, 27 de octubre de 1744 – Ibidem, 2 de mayo de 1819) fue una pintora inglesa y una de las artistas más famosas de la Gran Bretaña del siglo XVIII. Moser, una de las dos mujeres fundadoras de la Royal Academy of Arts en 1768 y miembro RA , pintó retratos, aunque es particularmente notable por sus representaciones de flores.
Mary Moser RA was an English painter and one of the most celebrated female artists of 18th-century Britain. One of only two female founding members of the Royal Academy in 1768 , Moser painted portraits but is particularly noted for her depictions of flowers.
This annual award was established in 2003 to honour the work and commitment to Artweeks, over many years, of the [late Lady Mary Moser](news/29062). The award is intended to help develop the career of a professional artist who has taken up art as a second career later in life, with a small cash prize.
Moser’s vase is full of British plants that flower in the summer; a careful observation of nature. Moser got her early artistic training from her father, the artist George Michael Moser. Opportunities for girls to attend art school were limited, so aspiring female artists were often taught at home by family members.
