  3. “Math Rock” along with Post Rock is included as a subgenre category on Prog Archives, so it could be considered prog rock depending on one’s own definition - totally subjective. And Rush were precursors of it, along with King Crimson as others have mentioned. Bands that followed are Slint, Polvo, and Battles to name a few.

  4. But as far as showing someone who has no idea what math rock is, I would say Polyphia (whatever that album is called). Now, I don't think polyphia is math rock, but a lot of people do, and will comment about it, which will probably in turn cause the newbie to look further into the genre.   6. 90% of Math-Rock bands, especially ones with "Influencer" feeling attached to em, Polyphia, Ichika Nito, Mateus Asato (even though he's not math rock) etc. The only Math Rock band I really tolerate is Don Caballero and even so it's because they're actual songwriters, and not content creators.
