(1988), of 62 patients found that the mortality rate of V. vulnificus infection increased with the time to antibiotic administration from 33% at 24 h after admission to 63 and 100% at 48–72 and > 72 h, respectively. Many patients require aggressive supportive care in the ICU in addition to antibiotics.
