She started her high-fashion modelling career in London in 1957 and continued in New York City in 1958 at the Ford Modeling Agency. In New York, she worked at Vogue and Harper's Bazaar.

Nena von Schlebrügge is not just known as the mother of acclaimed actress Uma Thurman, but also as a former fashion model and an aristocratic figure with an extraordinary family history. Her father, Baron Friedrich Karl Johann von Schlebrügge, was a colonel during World War I and later became a dissident during the Nazi regime.
