Night Train for Inverness is a black and white 1960 British drama film directed by Ernest Morris and starring Norman Wooland, Jane Hylton and Dennis Waterman. It is notable as the film debut of Dennis Waterman and was referenced in an episode of The Minder Podcast (about the ITV series 1979–1994, 2009, featuring Waterman).

A night train service in the return direction started in 1872, leaving Inverness at 7:30 pm to arrive in Perth at 5:05 am. After sleeping carriages were made available from 1878, the train was re-timed to depart at 10 pm and to arrive at 7 am; London could be reached at 9:40 pm.

With the help of Marion Crane (Jane Hylton), an ex-girlfriend, Roy abducts Ted and the three of them take the overnight train to Inverness to start a new life. But unknown to his adoring father, Ted is a diabetic and without his regular insulin injections he will go into a coma and die...
Roy Lewis, just released from gaol, kidnaps his young son Ted and takes him on a train bound for Inverness.
