The orange originated in a region encompassing Southern China, Northeast India, and Myanmar; the earliest mention of the sweet orange was in Chinese literature in 314 BC. Orange trees are widely grown for their sweet fruit. The fruit of the orange tree can be eaten fresh, or processed for its juice or fragrant peel.

21 de oct. de 2023 · Origins of the Orange. The orange, scientifically known as Citrus × sinensis, belongs to the Rutaceae family, which includes a variety of citrus fruits. Its exact origin is somewhat ambiguous, but it is generally believed to have first appeared in Southeast Asia, likely in what is now southern China and Malaysia.
Orange culture probably spread from its native habitat to India and the east coast of Africa and from there to the eastern Mediterranean region. The Roman conquests, the development of Arab trade routes, and the expansion of Islam contributed significantly to this dispersal.
